“My dream is to create an outreach program that brings marginalized voices to the forefront. Not just in terms of already scripted theatre, but to be creating our own pieces, so that way we’re bringing our own unique experiences to the stage.”

Tahnia Getson (BA ’20) is a multidisciplinary artist who began preparations to create their not-for-profit theatre company before graduating from the University of Lethbridge. After participating in numerous shows and creative endeavours at the University of Lethbridge, including an independent study, main stage productions and volunteerism, Tahnia grew their skillset and found support in friends, faculty and experiences. Cavalcade Theatre Company was successfully launched in August of 2020, with the purpose of providing a platform for youth advocacy. Tahnia also works as a youth engagement coordinator at Communities Building Youth Futures and is passionate about youth advocacy and engagement.
